Year 6

Oakfields Primary School

Welcome to Pine Class and Willow Class

Teachers:

Mrs K Lilley & Mrs E Lloyd (Pine Class)
Mrs L Helliwell (Willow Class)

We are all experienced Year 6 teachers who enjoy working in a supportive team. Through our dedication we aim to raise the standards of achievement, and the independence of pupils. Implementing a robust, well-rounded curriculum, that inspires the children to succeed, and take pride in their learning journey is at the heart of our philosophy. We work in partnership with the children to ensure that they are ready to make the transition to secondary school.

Homework in Year 6

For the Autumn Term, Year 6 homework will consist of a Maths, Grammar/English and Spelling activity which will be handed out on Friday every week and due back on Thursday. We also expect the children to be reading daily to and adult which they need to record in their reading records. There are termly raffles for children who regularly read 5 times a week.

Homework is due in on a Thursday. If it is not given in on Thursday, the children will have another opportunity to hand it in on Friday morning. If no homework has been handed in, children will attend a homework catch up club on Friday lunchtime. If you have any concerns regarding homework, please speak to your child’s teacher.

The children have been given login details which can be found in their home school diaries for: Times Tables Rock Stars, Spelling Shed and Language Angels. If you have any difficulties accessing these, please let us know.

PE

PE takes place twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday for the Autumn Term. Children should to come to school in their PE kit on these days, unless instructed otherwise by the class teacher (please note, school trips and activities may affect this).

Please ensure that children can take their earrings out for PE lessons and that their hair is tied back, in line with school policy.
