Welcome to Cherry Class and Cedar class
Hello! We are the Year 5 teaching team: Mrs T Hunduza & Mrs A Blake (Cherry Class) and Mr A Golding (Cedar Class).
We enjoy working in a small school – we really do all know each other and foster a ‘family feel’. We are a team that focuses on supporting your child into Upper Key Stage 2. We help continue their progress across the curriculum and ensure they leave us fully prepared for their final year of Primary Education and SATs.
Homework in Year 5
This year KS2 homework will consist of short burst tasks in Mathematics, Grammar and/or Spelling. This will be handed out every Friday, and due back in the following Thursday. Alongside this, we expect children to be reading at least 5 times a week and recording this in their reading diaries. To support the demands of the Year 5 Maths curriculum, we encourage children to practise their times tables regularly using their login at:

Children can also log onto Language Angels on the week that PPA is not taking place to revise previous work. The children have been given class login details which can be found in their home school diaries.
PE
PE takes place twice a week. We focus on two sports each half term (one indoor and one outdoor), and these can be found on the Long-Term Curriculum Overview. PE lessons are on every Tuesday and Thursday. We are currently asking all children to come to school in their PE kit on these days. Any change to the timetable will be instructed to your children by their class teacher.
Please ensure that children can take their jewellery out, and they will need to tie their hair back in line with school policy.
