Reception

Oakfields Primary School

Welcome to Reception!

The class teacher of Chestnut Class is Mrs Geoghegan, working alongside with Mrs Harding.

Together, they ensure that your child has the best start to their school life. The children have free flow access to a large outdoor area. The Early Years team want to work in partnership with you to help your children become lifelong learners.

We have been sharing Dough Disco with the children at school. To see information about what we do, plus a demonstration, press play below:

To help the children to hold their pencil correctly, we have started to teach them the ‘Nip, Flip, Grip’ method. Watch the video below for a quick demonstration:

Books for Topics is a website that gives links to online stories, read by the author or illustrator of the book. Story times are so important for their development so this is another way to share books together. Click the link below to access 8 different stories.

Stories

We have shared ‘Perfectly Polite Penguins’ at school. Here is Mr Shrubb reading the story with a surprise ending!

Mrs Geoghegan has recorded Giles Andreae’s book ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance.’ Click below to listen:

Please find below a story read by Mr Shrubb. It’s the Mick Inkpen story, Kipper’s Toybox.

Our next story for you is called ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt. Listen to Mrs Harding read it for you:

Reception Songs

In Reception we sing lots of songs with the children. These include counting songs, traditional nursery rhymes and other fun ones! Below are some of the songs that we enjoy singing together.
